Mi-Co names Vice President of Operations
RTP-based Mi-Co announced that Carolee Nail has been promoted to Vice President of Operations reporting to Mi-Co Chief Executive Officer James Clary. Nail is a graduate of the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and her work experience includes international and domestic sales at UPS, running operations for a CPA firm, and owning and operating a retail business for 10 years. Blast Internet Services adds Director
Pittsboro-based Blast Internet announced that David Hustace, Product Manager and Network Management Consultant of Tavve Software Company, has joined Blast Internet Services as Director of Professional Services.

David has worked as a network management consultant with other local firms, Strategic Technologies and Mobile Reach.

Former NC Department of Commerce Manager and Nortel Exec join Global Software
Global Software, a provider of real-time spreadsheet financial and enterprise data analytics, announced the hiring of Melissa Neal as director, reseller channels. The company also announced Nortel Veteran, Gary Swartz as sales director.

Neal joins Global Software with a B.A. from North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC in Business Management and Spanish, and an MBA from North Carolina State University. Through her work with the NC Department of Commerce, Neal worked closely with more than 130 high-tech companies in the State of North Carolina whose main goal was to propagate their solutions throughout the world by developing global sales channels.
Swartz joins Global Software, Inc. with a B.A. from the University of Calgary, Canada and an MBA from Queen’s University in Kingston, Canada. Swartz held several positions within Nortel including: Senior Financial Analyst, Senior Marketing Manager, and Director, Enterprise E-Business. Prior to joining Global Software, Inc. Mr. Swartz served as Co-Founder and Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Tutela Information Security of Cary, NC.

Integrated Clinical Trial Services (ICTS) names President.
Raleigh-based ICTS names Tom Sturgis as the company’s President. He will oversee the day-to-day activities and financial operations of the firm. Sturgis, a North Raleigh native, has over 10 years experience in patient recruitment and medical communication and 20 years experience in management and finance. ICTS was formed as a more effective approach for pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device companies to recruit patients in clinical trials.

NC State College of Management names Development Director
North Carolina State University College of Management has named Matthew B. Smith as director of development. In his new role, Smith will manage all of the college’s relationships with alumni, donors, friends and supporters in the business community. He will work closely with the university central development staff, the college administration, the college’s Board of Advisors and the NC State Foundation. His duties include solicitation and stewardship of donors, processing of gifts, and management of the Wachovia Executive Lecture Series and alumni events. Before working at the College of Management, Smith was director of young alumni and director of NC State clubs at the NC State Alumni Association. He earned a bachelor of science in business management from the college in 1994.

Peopleclick announces new CFO
Peopleclick, a provider of recruitment and vendor management software solutions, announced the appointment of James Buchanan as CFO. Prior to joining Peopleclick, Buchanan served for six years as CFO for Convera Corporation, an enterprise search and categorization software company, before being appointed COO. In addition, he has served in senior financial leadership positions with Legent Corporation, Goal Systems International, Norfolk Southern Corporation and PepsiCo, Inc. Buchanan will be responsible for finance, HR, corporate IT and contract administration. He holds a bachelor’s of science degree from Indiana State University, an MBA from Indiana University and is a Certified Public Accountant.

A4 Health Systems announces Bond as new President, McConnell Still at Helm
A4 Health Systems, a provider of Electronic Medical Record solutions, announces an expansion in leadership with the appointment of David Bond to the new role of president and chief operating officer (COO). Current CEO, John McConnell, will remain as A4 board chairman. Bond has been acting as executive vice president of A4′s Ambulatory Division since 2001, and joined the company in 1998. Bond began his career by serving as vice president and co-founder of Specialized Data Systems, a provider of governmental accounting systems. In 1985, he joined Medic Computer Systems as regional sales manager and later held positions as vice president of Marketing, vice president of Business Development and vice president of Customer Support. Bond moved to private consulting in 1998, and later that year joined A4 Health Systems as vice president of Sales and Marketing. In March 2001, Bond assumed the role as executive vice president of A4′s Ambulatory Division.
