As Mountain View, CA-based SocialTwist continues its rapid growth, the company has appointed Sanjeev Agrawal, former head of Google Product Marketing, as president of the company, effective immediately. Subsequent to Google, Sanjeev was VP Products at TellMe Networks (acquired by Microsoft) and CEO of Aloqa (acquired by Motorola).
SocialTwist is a social marketing platform that enables major brands, etailers, loyalty programs, and online publishers to identify, grow and motivate groups of users (“customer advocates”) to spread their message across social networks. The company’s Tell-a-Friend platform integrates with 80+ different social platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Gmail, Yahoo, Microsoft and all other leading IM, email, blog and publisher networks.
The company also says it has reached a major milestone: 100,000 brands and websites now use SocialTwist to engage and motivate their users to share content, promotions and coupon offers across social networks.
Developers win $100k at Intuit Apps Showcase
–Corelytics has just won the $25,000 grand prize for its financial dashboard application at Intuit Inc.’s (Nasdaq: INTU) first Apps Showcase. In addition, Corelytics will also be featured in a targeted campaign that will promote the app directly to Intuit’s 4.5 million QuickBooks® customers through its many marketing channels. The application, developed by CoreConnex Inc., allows small business owners to monitor key indicators, see visual trends and forecasts and compare performance to their industry peers.
Intuit hosted the event to inspire developers to create Web and mobile applications that build upon the power of QuickBooks data and help small businesses do more with the product. More than 160 developers applied to participate and 30 finalists were chosen to present at the Apps Showcase. The finalists ranged from established brands to start-ups, with 12 of the applications making their public debut at the event.
In addition to Corelytics, three runners-up each received $25,000 prizes. These included Bill.com, the only paperless bill pay service that works with QuickBooks Online, Postcard Services, which offers direct mail marketing tools made specifically for QuickBooks users and Profitably that provides customer analytics and data-driven insights to help small businesses grow.

Samsung Galaxy S II to debut in U.S. Aug. 29
Samsung says its Galaxy S II tablet computer will be available in the U.S. after Aug. 29.
The tablet has a 1.2 Ghz dual core CPU, 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB internal storage micro SD slot, a 4.27″ WVGA display, 2 MP front cams, an 8 MP rear cam, NFC support and WiFi, Bluetooth and certain USB support.
