About the Author:
Clint Richardson is currently a partner in the Corporate and Securities Practice Group of Womble Carlyle's Atlanta office. Clint works regularly with growing companies in the information technology, life science, and service industries and with companies that provide financing to growing companies.
Clint is also a founder and director of the oldest trade association for venture capital investors in the Southeast, the Atlanta Venture Forum.
Clint works with growing companies of all sizes, from start-ups to NYSE listed companies. Clint's work with life science companies began three decades ago, in 1977, as part of a legal team that worked with a private medical device manufacturer through its growth years, public offerings and NYSE listing. He later provided start-up to public company representation for a leading tissue science company, also listed on the NYSE, and start-up to successful exit representation for a transaction processing company. This last company went through six rounds of venture capital financing and eventually sold in 2004 for more than $500 million.
His work with private and public companies involves private fundraisings, initial and follow-on public offerings, governance counseling, technology and trade secrecy advice, licensing, distribution, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, and spin-off strategies. He also works with venture capital funds and angel investors in their portfolio investments, fund formations, and reorganizations. Over the years, he has helped life science clients respond to warning letters, recalls, and investigations by public agencies such as the SEC, FDA and CDC, as well as shareholder and derivative lawsuits.
